For those who don’t know, Alex Emanuel’s father Robert Grossman was a famous illustrator who did over 500 magazine covers alone in an award-winning career that spanned over 50 years. He’s also widely known as the artist of the iconic poster for the film “Airplane!”, plus he was nominated for an Academy Award in the late 70s for his short animated film “Jimmy the C”. Robert Grossman passed away in March 2018 after securing a publishing deal for his magnum opus, a sprawling illustrated novel called “Life on the Moon”. Alex has worked closely with the publishers since then and the book launched over the summer with a lavish party at the Society of Illustrators in Manhattan, produced by Alex and Starna Productions. Alex has begun the process of making a documentary on his father but first is working adamantly on getting the book out there. Recently, Rolling Stone did a wonderful mention online of “Life on the Moon’ that you can read here, and Alex was interviewed for Highlight Hollywood about the book and his father’s influence on him. Stay tuned for more about this fantastic book, which you can get on Amazon and elsewhere. For more on Robert Grossman, please visit his website.
In other news, the feature film rock ‘n’ roll comedy Alex produced, acted in and scored, The Incoherents, continued racking up festival honors as it won “Best Feature” at The Coney Island Film Festival. You can view the New Trailer for the film here.
