Alex Emanuel is reading a role tonight, 3/24/14 in a new play by Prudence Wright Holmes called Sister Girl, 8pm at the National Arts Club (15 Gramercy park South). It’s based on the true story of college-educated freed slave, Mary Elizabeth Bowser, who was a a spy in Jefferson Davis’ White House in the Civil War. Also reading are Anne Fizzard, Nambi E Kelley , Stephen Bradbury, Jeffrey Funaro, and Cheryl Chalmers. Directed by Stuart Ross, and sponsored by the Broadway producer Margot Astrachan.
